How to speed up the loading of our website
by Gaurav Gupta
Often, the intention to develop a visually striking website runs counter to an unbreakable condition: ‘charge fast’. Impatient users will leave our website if they find it slow, which in other words means that they will not buy any of the products or services we offer. In mobile devices, charging times are usually higher than desktop, both due to lower processing capacity and slower Internet connections (which in our country is especially problematic). However, mobile users expect to have an equally good experience.
How to make our website load fast and users do not abandon us?
Use few plugins. Using external plugins can be indispensable and save us a lot of work. However, in platforms like Word Press significantly affect the loading time. There are tools to know the level of use of resources of each of our plugins.
Avoid hot linking. This technique consists of displaying images or videos hosted on external servers, different from the one in which the current page is hosted. This forces requests to a large number of different servers, slowing down the page load.
Optimize images. We must compress the highest quality JPG images to weigh less. On the other hand, the images must be shown in their actual size: to include a large image and to reduce its dimensions through HTML forces to scale them in time of load, obstructing this process.
